A faille printed with branches of flowers and foliage intertwining broken up by delicate bouquets of carnations, roses and small flowers. The trade in these painted fabrics imitating pekins developed in Lyon from the 1740s. These fabrics continued to be very popular throughout the 18th century. Many of these fabrics were found in royal residences. For example, in Saint-Cloud, Marie-Antoinette s room was decorated with a pekin with a white ground decorated with branches, birds and butterflies.
