Faille printed with an « arborescent » motif. Composition in a meandering style with branches twisting vertically with leafy shoots and flowers. Scattered around the branches are pastoral elements, a basket of fruit and flowers, musical instruments, and bird with a wreath of flowers. The trade in these painted fabrics imitating "pekins" developed in Lyon from the 1740s. These fabrics continued to be very popular throughout the 18th century. Many of these fabrics were found in royal residences. For example, in Saint-Cloud, Marie-Antoinette's room was decorated with a pekin with a white ground decorated with branches, birds and butterflies.
