The colour

Faille printed with an « arborescent » motif. Composition in a meandering style with branches twisting vertically with leafy shoots and flowers. Scattered around the branches are pastoral elements, a basket of fruit and flowers, musical instruments, and bird with a wreath of flowers. The trade in these painted fabrics imitating "pekins" developed in Lyon from the 1740s. These fabrics continued to be very popular throughout the 18th century.
