A faille printed with scattered roses as a background and a motif of a bouquet of flowers in an oval formed by ribbon with a bow. This type of motif was very widespread in the mid 1790s. Many similar fabrics dating from 1786 were found at the back of the Furniture Storage. The trade in these painted fabrics imitating "pekins" developed in Lyon from the 1740s. These fabrics continued to be very popular throughout the 18th century. Many of these fabrics were found in royal residences. For example, in Saint-Cloud, Marie-Antoinette s room was decorated with a pekin with a white ground decorated with branches, birds and butterflies.
