Didier Beautemps draws everywhere, all the time. He fills sketchbooks, doodles on the corner of a table, traces shapes during meetings—drawing is a natural extension of his thinking. As the Founding Architect of Atelier COS Paris, Didier thinks through drawing. For him, drawing is not just a tool, but an instinctive gesture, a way of structuring ideas.
It is alongside Maison Lelièvre that Didier has brought his drawings to life, imagining a rug collection that preserves the energy of the line and anchors it in material. Each pattern comes from a spontaneous sketch, drawn in one fluid, almost automatic motion. Lines intersect, overlap, break off and resume elsewhere—like a thought taking shape.
Wool adds texture, while tencel captures the light. Around each motif, intricate carving work enhances the contrasts, making the forms seem almost in motion.
Depending on the angle, the design shifts, intensifies, or vanishes. In some places, one might glimpse a jungle, an underwater current, streets seen from above, crossing paths—a kind of imaginary map where each line becomes a possible route.
The rug becomes a surface where the drawing retains its movement, where the impulse of the hand continues through the material.
These two hand-tufted rugs—an ideal technique to translate the pencil strokes that inspired them—are the result of a collaboration between Maison Lelièvre and Atelier COS Paris. They are the first creations of Atelier COS Éditions, a new branch of Atelier COS Paris dedicated to the creation of objects and exclusive collections.

STREET
Composed of 85% New Zealand wool, this rug is exceptionally comfortable and easy to maintain. The outlining of the shapes and certain details are crafted in Tencel, a plant-based silk that adds sheen and enhances the motif. A few vibrant colors also accentuate the intensity of this free-form design.
